Lifelong Engagement in Organized Medicine

It all started when DR.Edje matriculated at the University of Michigan medical school and was exposed to the importance of our physician voice for the good our patients and our profession… 

She became an active member of the American Medical Association as  a first year medical student in 1992 and has been involved since. Largely being mentored by the Organized Medical Staff Section, where she subsequently served on its governing council as a member-at-large. Dr. Edje learned about developing ideas with colleagues of diverse thoughts on a multitude issues; understanding the nuances of the resolution process; honing the skills need to  testify succinctly  and collaborating to fashion policy which could be carried forward for used enacting impactful solutions to complex health problems. She has actively represented Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York via Great Lakes States Coalition testimony in the Council on Medical Education, a council dedicated to the spectrum of medical education. Most recently, Dr. Edje has served in the following roles:

Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) Chair for deliberations of the AMA Council on  Medical Education

Provides evidence-based testimony in the deliberations of the Council on Medical Education at biannual meetings of the AMA.

Policy compendium usually consists of 4-6 reports and 25 to 32 resolutions every 6 months, 2011 to present
