Dr. Edje started her education in the British education system in South Central Africa where she moved to with her family from Iowa. She spent her formative years in a British boarding school in Malawi surrounded by fellow expatriate students from across the world. At age 14, she accompanied her father to Colombia, South America for a year of sabatical then came to the US where she did a year of high school in Inkster, Michigan. A year later, she matriculated at Michigan State University where she got her bachelor of Science in physiology and subsequently entered medical school at the University of Michigan.  Dr.Edje’s leadership roles started in earnest as class advoate on student council and culminated in being President of her Medical School student body. She returned to Michigan Medicine in 2014 for a Master in Health Professions Education to make sure that her role as an educator was grounded in education and leadership theory: that is was grounded in evidence and that she was connected to others interested in the same. She teaches in the Health Professions Education program of  the Department of Learning Health Science at Michigan Medicine.
